So far, they have the same recycled assets in every level, except for level 2 (which has "indoor, museumy" prefabs.) The only 'true' serious sam' gameplay I have found is towards the end of level 3, when you fight the first bull. I'm sure it's in there, but surely it shouldn't take longer than two hours to find it.įinal Conclusion: It's probably worth the $40 pricetag, but I feel like it's grinding to get to the point where the game is actually enjoyable.ĮDIT: Played up to level 5 in co-op. I played for two hours and haven't felt the "Serious Sam experience" (playing with lots of people against lots of monsters with lots of weapons) yet. I have never experienced this before in a game. I found myself getting motion sickness when playing in the "you can only see with your flashlight" level.

Seemingly random half-second stutters every 20-30 minutes. Playing was literally a pattern of spawning, running 8 feet, dieing, and repeating. One deathmatch map was way too small for even the 8 people we had. You have to exit via pressing escape during the actual game, rather than the menu that displays after you've finished playing. Loading screens should happen when a map is loading, not when I'm finished playing the map! There is no way to "exit" survival mode from the menu screen, and pressing escape simply loads you back into another survival match. I got lost on the first mission and actually walked for 5 minutes back to the beginning spawn area without realizing where I was until I got there.Īfter dying in survival mode, there is a loading time (around 15 seconds).

Lots of support for PC gamers / decent graphics options / option to turn off mouse acceleration.Īlthough the levels have a more realistic look, the level design is kind of confusing, and a lot of the geometry is copy-pasta. There are cutscenes with voice actors, rather than optional green text. Lots of different multiplayer modes (DM, CTF, co-op, survival) You can strafe while sprinting, and sprinting lasts forever (there is no stamina guage). The melee attacks have a unique animation for every enemy, and sometimes result in Sam keeping a keepsake, such as the monster's eye or heart. I love fast FPS games like UT, Tribes, and QL.Īrcadey-FPS experience with COD-style modern improvements, such as ironsights, sprinting, and insta-kill melee attacks. I have played and beaten the previous two games in the series. I played the first 95 minutes of Serious Sam 3.
